Unlike the t-mobile.co.uk/usb offer, 3 have a low usage monthly contract, with a 1GB allowance for £10 a month on an 18 month contract. 3 also offer a pay as you go service, where you buy top-up cards and pay per mb rather than for each day. Much better suited to occasional use that paying per day. Top up cards are available at over 100,000 locations, so your never far from your mobile broadband fix.

The 3 price plans differ from the others in that there is no 'fair usage' policy and unlimited browsing. If you go over your allowance, you pay for each MB you use. USB modems are all free with monthly contracts, and if your an existing customer, you get 50% discount on monthly line rental

  • Broadband Lite (1GB) - £10 a month
  • Broadband Plus (3GB) - £15 a month
  • Broadband Max (7GB) - £25 a month

Buy online at three.co.uk/sunusb, get your USB modem delivered, plug it in and away you go. All very simple.

Before you decide, have a think about which price plan to go for, or even if you should use the pay as you go. 3 have a useful tool at three.co.uk/starusb to show how much browsing and downloading you can get for each package. I'm sure you can move from a lower priced packed to a higher one, but I doubt they'll let you switch from the £25 deal to the £10 if it turns out that you don't need all the GBs
